Soham Eastern Gateway

An outline planning application was submitted by This Land in 2020 for up to 540 homes on a 22-hectare greenfield site allocated for redevelopment under Policy SOH 3 of the East Cambridgeshire Local Plan 2015. This Land developed the masterplan for the site, shaping a cohesive vision for the new neighbourhood to complement and strengthen Soham’s town centre. The proposal incorporated a new medical centre alongside wider infrastructure and community facilities to reflect the scale of growth and meet the needs of future residents.
Outline planning consent was secured at committee in 2024 and full consent granted in 2026 to enable development of the site and much needed new facilities and housing in Soham.

Environment
Soham Eastern Gateway will benefit from approximately 15 acres of new public open spaces, including play areas for children, bridleway and natural green areas. Protecting existing common land is a priority that will remain untouched, and contributions will be made towards their ongoing maintenance.
